Fire Engine Toys
have stood the test of time. These toys have been around, and have probably survived so long because they are always hits, even if we don’t understand why. One of these classic favorites is the fire engine toy.
My daughter has always been rather girly with what she likes, with the exception of her love of the Wiggles. She prefers dolls and tea sets to things that most boys enjoy playing with. I was surprised one day when she picked up a fire engine toy and asked if she could have it. Because it was small, I thought it would be okay for her to have it, and I bought it. I was even more surprised when she brought it home and played with it for hours. It didn’t do a lot, but that didn’t seem to matter to her at all. She still plays with it to this day.
Though most think of fire engine toys as something that most boys like to play with, I see many girls besides my daughter that seem to enjoy playing with them as well. They come in various sizes and shapes, and though most are red, there are many other colors out there as well. Some are tiny and don’t do much but roll around, but others have working sirens and ladders. Some even come with little fire fighter action figures. Some people save their fire engine toy from their childhood because they have such fond memories of playing with it.
Perhaps the fascination with the fire engine toy has something to do with the awe that many kids feel for firefighters. They are often the unsung heroes in any community, and many people respect that. When children see a real fire engine, they often ask a lot of questions about them, and these questions are answered by their parents. If their parents still respect the firefighter, this will come through in the way they talk about fire trucks. This fascination may indeed by why the fire engine toy has always been popular, and why it may continue to be long into the future.
Looking for the perfect toy for any child is a very hard endeavor a lot of the time. This is because no matter how well we think we know our children, we really haven’t got a clue about what they really like.
